I woke up to felipe martinez (my dog) barking like crazy....I was screamin at him to shut up and then my wife got up to beat him for being a crackhead and then she started screaming, "its snowing...its snowing!!!" In my 27yrs I have never seen this much snow in BATON ROUGE!!! Absolutely amazing! Thank you mr. felipe martinez for being the real snow patrol.

Amplified 09'

I'm pretty excited about Amplified 2009!!! In the past we have never opened up this conference to other churches but we really felt God nudging us to create an enviroment where we could blur the lines of denomination and church names!! We have some other great churches coming to be a part and we know God is gonna do some awesome things!! Last year God dropped the bomb on us and we know that He has something special for us for 2009. The prayer that we are praying is that God would amplify the cries of broken,hurting,lost,forgotten people in our hearts...that their cries would disturb us in our indifference and apathy...that we would be moved to irrational outburst of love that bring help and hope. The weekend is jammed packed so u don't want to miss it!! All this talk about bailout makes me think of Romans 5: while we were yet HELPLESS sinners Christ came and paid a debt we could never pay....1 peter 1: and the bailout wasn't with cash but with the precious and priceless blood of Jesus, the sinless spotless lamb of God!!!! Gov'ts can't bust up a bailout like that...that's legendary!!!!

The gospel still works

A couple of weeks back I had the honor of hearing Franklin Graham preach at the catalyst conference and his message was amazing!!! He said,"forget what your conferences,seminaries, and own intellect have taught you about preaching...sometimes they tell you that just the ole gospel is to simple...you need to make it catchy and colorful with your creativity....BUT let me tell you that your catchy,clever sermons and illustrations can bring NO eternal-significant impact BUT the gospel has power...it changes people...IT STILL WORKS TODAY!!" He must have said that "it still works today" 50 times...wow! From India to Atlanta the gospel works...it cuts deep into a mans heart...its the only thing that works. I have proof that it works: Saturday nite I helped baptize my sister-n-law and brother-n-law who I have been praying for for nearly 10 years....ask them if the gospel still works!!!!

So what is 40:SAP? This Tuesday, October 6, I will begin a 40 day Spiritual Adventure Pursuit, and I would love for you to join me. It will be a time of fasting, praying, reading His word - and I think some spontaneity in how He speaks to us. I think it is so crucial to press in and seek God’s presence right now and I think He is going to do something big. With the state of the economy, the upcoming election and the crazy things happening in our world we just need to hear from Heaven and receive the Holy Spirit’s guidance regarding our lives, families, churches and resources. I have huge expectation for this season!

So, what’s it going to be? Its a risky/dangerous deal but what if during the next 40 or so days God’s presence showed up and rocked your world? I don't know about you, but for me that is a risk worth taking. Will you join us in our pursuit of Him?

I was bustin up a hospital visit and saw this pain rating scale and thought I'd let u use it to rate how your day was going....I'm at about a 3.5 right now after a long- crazy- yet exciting week..... Completely wasted from pouring out for the cause of Jesus and I love it!!! 3-4 is like "OMG I'm fried" right?? 9-10=i wasted my week on stupid stuff....1-2=clueless...5-6=not that bad of a week....

Today was a crazy work day....thousands of bags of ice, thousands of plates of food,,bottled water, dozens of fallen trees removed from crushed homes, many tarps distributed to homes with holes in their roof and around 600 plates of hot food served to our national gaurd guys that are here helping in the relief efforts. Chainsaws,tarps,generators,ice, and the list goes on of the things God is using to bring glory Jesus and hope to his people.

We need as many volunteers to meet at our healing place church highland campus at 8am....if you have chainsaws,rakes,clean up equipment then bring it. Tomorow is a huge day for us to help people so PLEASE if you can be here then show up!!! If you can't be here than plz keep us in your prayers....there are a lot of people that are devastated in our community that have lost everything.

As a staff we are getting geared up for this weekend and beggining of next week as thousands of people will be evacuating new orleans and potential impact areas due to hurricane Gustav. HPC Gameplan: Donaldsonville Dream Center (West Campus) is working w/ The Department of Homeland Security and is set to be shelters. BRDC (Winbourne) is making preparations now to assist nursing home and elderly. Our Highland Campus will serve as a Rest Stop for those traveling on I-10 out of New Oreleans and it’s surrounding areas . Our St. Francisville Campus (West Feliciana Middle School) may be open as shelter if needed. Cooking for Christ Team (CFC) is prepared to cook. Both of HPC’s mobile medical units are poised and ready to roll into the community to offer aid. Evacuation contra-flow is scheduled for Sunday at 6am. Church services will continue to meet this weekend.

Falling in Love

About 11 yrs ago this is where Jennifer "fell" in love with me. She was in 8th grade and I was in 10th and we were students at Christian Life Academy. Well, one day down this hall I was flirting with her and following (not stalking) her down the hall and for some reason I decided to try and kick the bottom of her shoe as she took a step so that she would take a super step but it didn't work out exactly as I thought. She tripped, went flying thru the air and with her thumbs tucked behind her booksack straps on her shoulders preoccupying her hands she hand nothing to break her fall but her face...OUCH!!!!! O ya, she had braces on her grill so her lips got busted...she started crying. Her lips started bleading and I took off running! So there you have it, that's the story of how jennifer my beautiful wife fell in love with me 11 yrs ago. (Fellas I don't suggest this method)

So, I went on this game drive in swaziland about an hour away from the mozi border and I got to hang with lions, elephants, hippos, zebras, etc.....basically the big 5 but prolly the highlight of the day had to be when I got like 10 ft away from 6 rhinos.....absolutely insane!!!! My heart was pounding in my chest as these 2.5 ton beast began to unite in their formation to charge after us but before they trampled us I had to snap off a quick pic cuz I knew you wouldn't believe me....so yah, I made it!!! Ya bo// sonie boo nonie. CHEERS!!!!

Kingdom Builders

Today was an awesome day as some of our HPC family came together to celebrate what God has done and what God is going to do with us in building His kingdom. It was a great time of worship and hearing Ps dino share his heart and God's vision for where we are headed....the best truly is yet to come!!! Then christine caine brought the thunder and challenged us to to continue in this great assignment God has given us. And finally, we took our first tour of the HPC arena which is our new worship space that God is building thru us so that we can reach more people for His kingdom. Its amazing to get to be a part of what God is doing at healing place church......

I can't sleep so here goes....

Sometimes it seems as if us christians have decided that the safest place for us is behind the walls of a building we call "the church." We can easily drift into the thought that our "church" keeps us from the contamination of the world.. And sometimes we're prolly even guilty of making church a refuge "from" the world rather than a refuge "for" the world. And then every so often we feel guilty b/c we know that the bible teaches us to "GO and make disciples..." So we go on a mission project or spend a few hours doing something charitable don't we? We've defined this kinna stuff as "being set apart and holy" mixed with "evangelism." But there is a shift taking place amoung christians and churchs. I have this sense that the church as a whole is beggining to get it.... God's church is grasping the reality that we're not called to live apart from the world and only come out once or twice a year;we're called to live without walls, to be an active part of our community and to influence it for Jesus. Ya, I like that! We are the church....we are a light slap in the middle of our dark communities not meant to be hidden in a building but spread onto every single street and into every single home.....AMEN

Today was a good day just hanging out with some friends shopping and walking around sidney....this may be one of my favorite cities I've ever been to. The food is good, shopping is great, and the scenery is breathtaking!!! Here's a little picture I took today of the famous opera house located on the harbor in downtown sidney. AWESOME!!!!

Big Hair Christians

So, I was catching a flight out of L.A. Lastnite to Sidney and 2 1/2 hrs into the flight the captain comes over the loud speaker and says, "don't be alarmed by the flames coming out of the engine on the right wing!!!!" What? Ya....FIRE!!! Not good right? Well needless to say we had to turn around and go back to L.A. For an emergency landing awaited by 12 fire trucks....spent the nite in L.A. And then this a.m. As I was at starbucks I ran into these two cool old guys with big hair and we started chatting and they tell me their names "les and moore" (funny I know) and then I said hey where do I know u guys from? They say "ever heard of the rock band stryper?" I was like "yeahya".....then they asked me to pray for them cuz they were headed to rock a show in amsterdam.....how cool is that???

Over 600 students, tons of salvations, peep's gettin set free......the whole thing was absolutely amazing! This is my beautiful wife holding a precious little girl on this past saturday at a block party we threw down by our winnbourne dream center. It was a great day with tons of food,games,and activites for the neighborhood. We had probaly 50 kids, 50 adults, 11 prostitutes, 3 drug dealers, a couple of pimps, and a lot of awesome volunteers with red shirts....most importantly, God was there!!! I love what my boy Bono once said, "wherever the poor is, God is there also." Jehovah Shammah= God is there

just say it

im not that savvy when it comes to church history or history alone for that matter...i slept through all that stuff in high school and seminary but for the past couple of weeks ive thought about that monumental day back in 1517 when one man with one message decided to take a stand for what he felt burning in his heart. martin luther saw that the church had become something it was never intended to be and his convictions wouldnt allow him to let it stay in the condition it was in. so what does he do? he points out 95 things that he felt like needed to be addressed. and how does he get the message out? NAILS THE MESSAGE TO THE DOORS OF A CHURCH!!!! ouch!! that decision to say what he said has changed not only church history but history itself. WOW!!! i guess my thought is simply this: do the messages i speak really bring about any significant change? do the words that you say have any lasting value? what if someone took the notes to my last sermon, or my best sermon at that, and nailed them to the doors of a church would anyone even stop to read? i guess the most practical application would be to encourage you to say what needs to be said....dont hold back from speaking truth even if it cost you great pain to do it....weither its a sermon,relationship,friendship or a mtg "say what needs to be said even if it hurts." forgive my rambling.AMEN :-)

Next generation

Well, we just kicked off our summer internship for our jr.high and sr.high students....combined we have a total of 126 interns and we feel crazy honored to get the oppurtunity to serve these incredible world changers!!! This is a pic I snapped of our j-high pastor "t-$" tyler tullos who is one of the most rad next generation pastors on the planet....this is him teaching our interns about serving the local church and growing into the person God has created them to be!!!! What an honor to get to serve these awesome students!!!! Thx to ps dino and mama d to for giving us this oppurtunity and for putting such a high priority on the next gen....finally, I want to thank the peep's of hpc for allowing us to serve your family!!! This is a guy who really takes his job seriously!!!! I'm in dallas this weekend celebrating my 3 year anniversary with my RIB!!! Anyway, we spent the morning downtown at the farmers market and I saw "the bee" man buzzing with passion about this delicious honey he was trying to entice by-passers with!!!! All he got out of me was a quick pic....that sucka wasn't gettin a dime outta me and my riblett!!!! Yeahya
moral of the story: I love my wife cuz she is awesome and I hate bees!!!!!

Epic outreach

I love what God is doing in our student ministries at HPC//last saturday about 40 pep's from jhigh-college got together to serve food to the homeless men and woman in our city!!! It was awesome to get to hang with these precious people and get to pray with them about the things on their heart. What an honor to be apart of what God is doing in the earth today!!! Jenn and I are so blessed to serve with such amazing people at HPC!!!!

Missions

Be praying for our HPS interns......they just rolled out this week headed to africa and india to blow it up for Jesus!!!!! They will be hooking up with some of our HPC campuses,childrens cup, and some other cool ministries and churches to spread some love!!!

Why I love the pep's at starbucks

Right when I thought life couldn't get any better howard suprised me with coming out with these incredible little green-keep you from spilling hot java on yourself-coffee plugs !!!! I actually don't know the officail starbanglish term for these incredible creations but what I do know is, I LOVE EM!!!!! GO HOWARD!!

This is none other than "the mantis" (jared ray). He is one of my favorite mates on the planet, an incredible servant that adds mad value to our team at HPC, and is an awesome man of God with amazing purpose attatched to his life!!!! He has served faithfully the vision of our house and the mission of God here in B.R. But now God is moving him into an awesome oppurtunity to learn and grow as he transitions to this new stage of his life. In case you didn't know "mantis" will be moving to california for three years to attend a 1st class photo journalism school....we will miss him like crazy but we know that God is gonna use this as a catalyst for the great things to come in his ministry and life. Be praying for him......hopefully he will find a "HWOG"=hot woman of God while he is gone. Hahahhahahah!!!! We love you bro, good luck.

Creative church

I was walking thru our creative department and stumbled across this high-level green screen. If u film something in front of a greenscreen u can do all types of cool graphics and stuff.....ie(u could make it look like I'm in the middle of the ocean). Funny thing is I don't think this homemade green screen is like "regulation green screen".....it looks like our creative guru's robbed a fabric store and went for it!!!! ***CREATIVITY=solving problems! Our problem is we don't have a green room,green creen or green car....we'll I have a savage green car. Anyway, I wanted to salute all my pep's that serve in the creative dept at HPC b/c even though they don't have everything it always takes to make it happen, they still do!!! That's creative......they not only make it happen but make it mackin. Creative leadership will demand for you to make something excellent under not so excellent conditions....with a good attitude. Mad props to u guys in the creative group for being CREATIVE!!!!!

Urgent Prayer Request

Danielle Leblanc jus got a new celly but she refused to take off the protective cellophane off the cover of it BUT after I set her free by ripping that shackle from her destiny to free her so she could be all she was created to be.....it hurt her feelings but as her loving pastor I refused to let her remain in bondage to the protective cellophane....I've seen many cool people loose cool points for this type of destuctive behaviour!!!! This is at the park at the refuge BBQ this today.....the pix is of her family and freinds encouraging her with prayer!!!!! What a nerd!!!! Thank God for people like me who are demanding that people be set free from being NERDS!!!! Hahahahahahaha

This is me excited about Easter!!!!!

This easter was the best ever!!!! Services at HPC were smokin hot and jammed packed=just under 10,000 in attendance and hundreds of salvations at every campus!!!! I'm excited about the lives who were touched and changed but the one that I'm excited the most about is my 6yr old nephew who broke down crying friday nite when he heard what Jesus went thru for him and so little brennen went to the altar with tears in his eyes and said yes to Jesus!!! I asked him what happened to him and he said," Jesus kissed me..." WOW! What a way to describe a close saviour.....so close that He kissed him. AMEN
