i DARE you to read this post.....

"Today's generation is the first generation in decades to have a lower life expectancy than that of their parents"

The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation said Wednesday it would designate $500 million over the next five years to help combat the "epidemic" of obesity in American children. This will be the largest private donation to be pledged for this widespread health threat.

"If we don't turn this epidemic around and halt the rise in childhood obesity, we're going to have the first generation of kids who actually are sicker and die younger than their parents," stated Dr. Risa Lavizzo-Mourey, president and CEO of the the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation

Childhood obesity is compromising the health of one-third of American youth. About 25 million children aged 17 and younger are classified as obese or overweight. This obesity problem is costing approximately $14 billion each year in medical expenses, according to the RWJ Foundation. BUT on the other hand.....

According to UNICEF, 30,000 children die each day due to poverty. And they “die quietly in some of the poorest villages on earth, far removed from the scrutiny and the conscience of the world. Being meek and weak in life makes these dying multitudes even more invisible in death.”
That is about 210,000 children each week, or just under 11 million children under five years of age, each year. Every 3.6 seconds someone dies of hunger and
Every year 15 million children die of hunger.
heres something i bet you didn't know...
To satisfy the world's sanitation and food requirements would cost only US$13 billion- what the people of the United States and the European Union spend on perfume each year...and
for the price of one missile, a school full of hungry children could eat lunch every day for 5 years. did you know that
Throughout the 1990's more than 100 million children died from illness and starvation. Those 100 million deaths could have been prevented for the price that the world spends on its military in two days! how is it that we have these two extremes...25 million fat kids are eating themselves to death while 15 million kids are starving to death? what if instead of committing $500 million dollars for the next 5 years to solve the problem of kids eating themselves to death we use that $$$ to solve the problem of kids starving to death?

Gosh this speaks so much truth! It tears me apart to see so many people starving because they dont have the resources to be able to help it, only to have a big chunk of Americans being fat because they can't get enough of the JUNK that they put into their mouths everyday.

I am all for using that chunk of money to get some food into those poor children's mouths...

Amen! I agree with pouring the money into the problem of poverty instead of pouring the money into solving the problem of kids overeating!
