tour de SERVE

so here's the deal: Pastor Dino and I had this crazy idea to rock the serve mobile to a couple of the partnering churches that have joined up for the 7 days of SERVOLUTION!! Basically, a couple of guys and I are planning on taking a little tour de serve and trying to drop in on a few of the churches to get some video footage and interviews of what God is doing thru SERVOLUTION....Im pretty stoked about the tour!!! And then to top it all off we plan on taking the serve mobile to the next level and leaving for the ARC conference a few days early to bust up some outreaches the whole way up to the N.C. and then park that mug right all up in the mix!!!! so, heres the deal: i need some of you weirdos to be praying that we can get the serve mobile's heart in good condition cuz she's definitely got some internal issues with the motor OR if you or somebody you know has a clue about mechanical stuff then gimme a shout!!! also, if you or your church want to hook up with hundreds of other churches participating in this massive servolution then you can sign up or check out more info here. holla

3rd generation

well, here's the deal....I've been rocking the blackberry for a while but I'm seriously considering pulling the switch-a-roo when I'm up for my upgrade in march. SCARY!!! i really cant stand phone switches and to be honest i really like my blackberry but I'm prolly gonna switch for two reasons:
1. mobile-me to help me with my many calendar issues
2. 3G

anyway be praying for me hahahahaha
for all of you that tuned in needing one of the doctor's spiritual nuggets you may be feeling disappointed at the lack of spiritual content associated with this post so let me, like a good preacher, tie this into something spiritual hahahah but for real...
cool leadership thought i stumbled on during sermon prep...the thought is based on this great passage in 1 kings 12:1-14

Rehoboam illustrates the crucial need to pass on faith in God carefully
and deliberately from one generation to the next. David was the first
generation of a new era of history. The Scriptures remembered him as a
deeply committed man of God who molded a nation from a loosely organized
group of competing tribes. Second generation Solomon inherited a stable
kingdom and simply had to organize the nation.

Rehoboam is a classic example of a pattern of behavior seen in the third
generation. He showed little concern for God or for the nation he was to
rule as the anointed of God. Whether in nations, organizations,
businesses, churches, or families, the third generation is always at risk.
Frequently, they simply inherit the traditions of their parents without
making them their own. The dream of the first generation does not fire
them. They are not compelled to maintain the stability won by the second
generation. They often see no need to walk in the ways of their fathers
and try to make their own way. Lacking commitment to something beyond
themselves, without the guidance and wisdom of a larger community, their
quest for independence becomes their destruction.

Zondervan

Pretty cool oppurtunity I heard about that's going on at HPC this weekend!!!
Fwd from Ps Johnny:

I want to let you know about a unique opportunity at our Highland Campus services this weekend (January 3rd and 4th). We're going to be hosting Zondervan Publishing's Bible Across America tour. To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the NIV Bible, they are travelling by RV all across America to invite people to contribute to a completely handwritten Bible – America's NIV – that will eventually be sold in retail stores and online. Their tents will be set up outside the back foyer for all Highland services, and everyone will be invited to write a verse for this historic Bible. There is no age limit!
Help us to spread the word!

Amplified 09'

I'm pretty excited about Amplified 2009!!! In the past we have never opened up this conference to other churches but we really felt God nudging us to create an enviroment where we could blur the lines of denomination and church names!! We have some other great churches coming to be a part and we know God is gonna do some awesome things!! Last year God dropped the bomb on us and we know that He has something special for us for 2009. The prayer that we are praying is that God would amplify the cries of broken, hurting, lost, forgotten people in our hearts...that their cries would disturb us in our indifference and apathy...that we would be moved to irrational outburst of love that bring help and hope. The weekend is jammed packed so u don't want to miss it!! If u or your youth group want to be a part or would like more details then plz check us out here Or call us @ 2254083380 ext 345 below is just a lil sample of our schedule. keep checkin my blog for more info about AMPLIFIED 2009
also, check out the live recording from last years AMPLIFIED in case you missed it

Charity

"Charities can easily become our brokers to the poor....the danger is that we never know the poor....there's never a connection made and yet we feel ok with it b/c our charity eases and appeases our conscience and we go about our life w/ a masked sense of service to those He loves so much.

Bailout

All this talk about bailout makes me think of Romans 5: while we were yet HELPLESS sinners Christ came and paid a debt we could never pay....1 peter 1: and the bailout wasn't with cash but with the precious and priceless blood of Jesus, the sinless spotless lamb of God!!!! Gov'ts can't bust up a bailout like that...that's legendary!!!!

The gospel still works

A couple of weeks back I had the honor of hearing Franklin Graham preach at the catalyst conference and his message was amazing!!! He said,"forget what your conferences, seminaries, and own intellect have taught you about preaching...sometimes they tell you that just the ole gospel is to simple...you need to make it catchy and colorful with your creativity....BUT let me tell you that your catchy, clever sermons and illustrations can bring NO eternal-significant impact BUT the gospel has power...it changes people...IT STILL WORKS TODAY!!" He must have said that "it still works today" 50 times...wow! From India to Atlanta the gospel works...it cuts deep into a mans heart...its the only thing that works. I have proof that it works: Saturday nite I helped baptize my sister-n-law and brother-n-law who I have been praying for for nearly 10 years....ask them if the gospel still works!!!!

mañana el 40:SAP

at the risk of being NON-ORIGINAL I'm about to share a clip from someones blog who took a clip from someone Else's blog to communicate something INSANELY AWESOME that begins on mañana hahahaha
here goes:
Starting tomorrow October 6Th we are embarking on what stands to be an amazing adventure…

Forget cool artwork or intriguing videos, this adventure is straight old school/organic/ghost-fest/in your face seeking the presence of God.

It’s 40:SAP!!!

Check out what Pastor Dino has to say about it:

So what is 40:SAP? This Tuesday, October 6, I will begin a 40 day Spiritual Adventure Pursuit, and I would love for you to join me. It will be a time of fasting, praying, reading His word - and I think some spontaneity in how He speaks to us. I think it is so crucial to press in and seek God’s presence right now and I think He is going to do something big. With the state of the economy, the upcoming election and the crazy things happening in our world we just need to hear from Heaven and receive the Holy Spirit’s guidance regarding our lives, families, churches and resources. I have huge expectation for this season!

Are you in?

So, what’s it going to be? Its a risky/dangerous deal but what if during the next 40 or so days God’s presence showed up and rocked your world? I don't know about you, but for me that is a risk worth taking. Will you join us in our pursuit of Him?

Odd

I was bustin up a hospital visit and saw this pain rating scale and thought I'd let u use it to rate how your day was going....I'm at about a 3.5 right now after a long- crazy- yet exciting week..... Completely wasted from pouring out for the cause of Jesus and I love it!!! 3-4 is like "OMG I'm fried" right?? 9-10=i wasted my week on stupid stuff....1-2=clueless...5-6=not that bad of a week....
